| Objectives | | | | 1. | Become aware of oneself as a pastoral carer and the ways one's ministry affect persons and to develop the skills to provide intensive and extensive pastoral care and counseling to persons in their crises and situations; | | 2. | Understand and utilize the clinical method of learning; | | 3. | Utilize the support, confrontation and clarification of the peer group for the integration of personal attributes and pastoral functioning; | | 4. | Utilize individual and group supervision for personal and professional growth and for developing the capacity to evaluate one's ministry; | | 5. | Develop the ability to make optimum use of one's religious heritage, theological understanding, and knowledge of the behavioral sciences in pastoral ministry to persons and groups; | | 6. | Become aware of how one's attitudes, values, and assumptions affect one's ministry and to acquire a self-knowledge which permits pastoral care to be offered within one's strengths and weaknesses; | | 7. | Become aware of the pastoral role in interdisciplinary relationships and to work effectively as a pastoral member of an interdisciplinary team; and | | 8. | Become aware of how social conditions and structures affect the lives of self and others and to effectively address these issues in ministry. | Programme Options Different units are offered as follows: | Summer Intensive Unit | | | | June to August of each year (11 weeks including clinical practice and group sessions) |  | Full time: Mondays to Fridays (9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) | | | | Fall Intensive Unit | | | | September to November of each year (11 weeks including clinical practice and group sessions) |  | Full time: Mondays to Fridays (9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) | | | | Spring Extended Unit | | | | January to April of each year (15 weeks including clinical practice and group sessions) |  | Part time: Two full days and one half day each week; and 100 extra hours of clinical practice | | | | Spring Evening Extended Unit | | | | January to May of each year (23 weeks of group sessions) |  | Two evenings a week; and 200 hours of clinical practice arranged by students (This unit is designed for frontline medical and nursing staff) | | | | Staff Information | | | | Name | Title | Telephone | Pager |
